How often as a Christian have you said these words in church?  It's a comforting verse, that can be recited  over and over without a thought to the words.  The comfort comes in the intent mostly it seems. Reading these translations brings a new perspective and actual thought to the words and meaning.

How beautiful the words and meaning become when seen through a different filter.

23rd pslam - english

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He maketh me lie down in green pastures
He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my Soul
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake

Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.
For Thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ---------------King James Version

23rd psalm - japanese

The Lord is my Pace-Setter, I shall not rush
He makes me stop and rest for quiet intervals
He provides me with images of stillness, which restore my serenity.
He leads me in the ways of efficiency through calmness of mind,
and his guidance is Peace.

Even though I have a great many things to accomplish each day,
I will not fret for His Presence is here.
His timelessness, His all-importance, will keep me in balance.

He prepares refreshment and renewal in the midst of my activity,
By anointing my mind with his oils of tranquility. My cup of joyous energy overflows.
Surely harmony and effectiveness shall be the fruits of my hours,
For I shall walk in the peace of my Lord and dwell in his house forever.

23rd psalm Indian

The Great Father above a shepherd is. I am His and with Him I want not.
He throws out to me a rope and the name of the rope is love, and he draws me to
where the grass is green and the water not dangerous, and I eat and lie down
and am satisfied.

Sometime, it may be very soon, it may be a long, long time, He will draw me into a
valley. It is dark there, but I'll not be afraid, for it is in between those mountains that
the shepherd Chief will meet me and the hunger that I have in my heart all through this life will be satisfied.

Sometimes he makes the love rope into a whip, but afterwards He gives me a staff to
lean upon. He spreads a table before me with all kinds of foods. He puts His hand
upon my head and all the "tired" is gone. My cup he fills till it runs over. What I tell is
true, I lie not. These roads that are "away ahead" will stay with me through this life
and after; and afterwards I will go to love in the Big Teepee and sit down with the
Shepherd Chief forever.
